Rammstein is back and they are back as they always do: big time.

This time they have returned with a different formula and I would dare to say that it is a new formula. Rammstein had us used to releasing singles that were really commercial successes, the list is long: Du Riechst so gut, Du Hast, Ich Will, Sonne, Keine Lust, Mein Teil, Benzin, Pussy, Ich tu dir weh, Mein Herz Brennt , Deutschland and a long etcetera of massive hits that didn't fail, hits that you listened to and said: "These sons of bitches did it again, take my fucking money."
However, today they are releasing Zeit, a song totally removed from that commercial side of Rammstein, that side that ensures the economic success of an album, today they released a song that has a dual purpose: on the one hand they tell us that if they want to release a single full of melancholy and regret, they can do it because they don't need it to be commercial to be a success; today for Rammstein, money is not central. On the other hand, there is the message that the song itself delivers and that is what we will see now.
ZEIT.

Zeit is "Time", an abstract concept, time is what we measure how the past,
present and future pass, it is a social construction that is only useful for human beings to understand how and how much we age. Rammstein has created a song that captures the most melancholic part of "Time", its incessant, unstoppable evolution, it is a mature song because it opens your eyes to reality: nothing is forever.
Musically and lyrically, it is simply wonderful. It begins with very deep voices that communicate from the beginning that feeling of melancholy that encompasses the entire song. Then a piano enters that reaffirms these sensations and that does not leave you indifferent; It is a very well worked song, because even without understanding the lyrics in principle, the music transmits a melancholy by itself and that is perfect, few bands have the capacity and the ability to achieve something like that, that is the universal language of Rammstein and Thanks to their way of creating music, they have millions of fans around the world, you don't need to know German to understand them. The song can feel very slow at the beginning, but it is a song that invites you to understand it and that is achieved when the song goes in a “crescendo” that only adds depth to the song. Many have said that power is missing, but I come back to the same thing: Rammstein can and wants to experiment, it needs to give this message and the song does not need that power musically, the power is in the lyrics, a formula diametrically different from commercial success.

This song is reminiscent of the Rosenrot album, songs like Spring, Feuer und Wasser, Ein Lied are songs that laid the foundations for Zeit, we could even talk about a connection between Ohne Dich and Haifisch, this song is self-referential and at the same time is a sign of notice to fans: Rammstein will have an end because everything has an end, so when is the right time to stop? Without a doubt, with this song, it is clear that for Rammstein the right moment is at the top, which is exactly where they are now.
But let's not be totally pessimistic, I sincerely believe that this is a warning, as
was Vergiss uns Nicht, these are the messages that the band has been leaving to prepare us for the end as a "don't tell us that we didn't warn you", but let's be clear, neither you nor I are prepared nor do we want that ending.

Honestly, I think Rammstein fulfilled its mission with this single: it opened our eyes, it makes us see reality, it makes us think and it makes us put ourselves in a scenario that for a long time we have denied: retirement. But there is no feeling sad, we have witnessed the development of Rammstein, we have witnessed its greatness, its power, its successes and its art, we should feel lucky that we are living in the same era as these greats of metal, that many of us were able to see them live and we will be able to witness in the future the legend that Rammstein became for eternity. Let's enjoy what's left, and don't forget, we were fortunate to live in the same time as Rammstein.
